The Dutch home, explained

Your fuse box, groups and NEN 1010

Open the meterkast, the utility cupboard by the front door, and you meet the heart of a Dutch home: the groepenkast (fuse box) with its groups and earth-leakage switches. Older homes often have too few groups for modern life, which is why the power trips when the home office, the induction hob and the dryer all draw at once.

All electrical work here must meet NEN 1010, the Dutch installation safety standard. That is the phrase to use when comparing any installer. We work to it as a matter of course, and we explain what we find in English: which groups are full, what your home office really draws, and what is worth fixing now.

Our story

Since 1999, and still hands-on

We started installing security in 1999, and we never stopped caring about the details. Today we complete around 2,000 installations a year, and we still do the work with our own engineers, not subcontractors. The person who advises you is part of the same team that shows up at your door.

That matters, because a camera on a wall is easy; a system that genuinely protects you is a craft. We buy quality materials, we finish cabling so you never see it, and when the standard product will not do, we spray cameras to colour in our own spray booth. Little of that shows on the invoice, but all of it shows in the result.

And we keep everything under one roof: cameras, alarm, video intercom, WiFi, network and, when needed, electrical work. One team that understands how it all fits together, and stays reachable long after handover.

Our clients rate us 4.3 on Google and named us Company of the Year 2025. Not because we are the cheapest, we are honest that we are not, but because we do it properly and stand behind it.

Frequently asked

Electrical work questions

What is NEN 1010 and why does it matter?

NEN 1010 is the Dutch safety standard that every low-voltage electrical installation must meet. Ask any installer whether they work to it. We do, as standard, and we explain what it means for your home in English.

My power keeps tripping, can you fix it?

Usually yes. It is often too few groups for modern appliances. We check what each group carries and what your home actually draws, then add groups or sockets so it stops tripping.

Can you do the electrical and the network together?

Yes, and it is efficient to combine them. Network points are frequently installed alongside electrical work in one visit, by one team.

What does a small job cost?

Small jobs are quoted fixed from around 150 euro including VAT. A network point typically runs 125 to 300 euro. Larger work gets a free survey first.

Do you do this for businesses too?

Yes. For a new business site we handle electrical, lighting, emergency lighting and more as part of getting you operational. See our business page for the full picture.
